Yeager Makes Ivy History With Fourth POY Award; Cashman, Houlden Are Also First-Team All-Ivy
November 05, 2025 | Field Hockey
Beth Yeager has made another piece of Ivy League history.
Yeager, a Princeton senior, earned her fourth Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year when the league awards were announced Wednesday afternoon. Yeager shared the honor with Harvard's Sage Pierkarski after winning the award outright her first three years.
She is now the first player in Ivy field hockey history to win four such awards and was already one of only two three-time Players of the Year, along with former Princeton player Paige Schmidt. Yeager was also a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection for the fourth time.
Princeton had seven players honored in all, including first-team selections Ella Cashman and Clem Houlden and three second-team All-Ivy selections: goalie Olivia Caponiti, defender Ottilie Sykes and forward Caitlin Thompson. Helena Große was the team's Academic All-Ivy pick.
Beth Yeager leads all Ivy League players with 29 points on 10 goals and nine assists despite being slowed this season after having surgery on her hand two weeks before the opener after breaking a bone at the Pan Am Cup while competing with the USA National Team. Yeager also started every game at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
She ranks fifth all-time at Princeton in goals and points. She is also one of only two current Division I players with at least 54 career goals and 34 career assists.
Yeager and Harvard's Bronte-May Brough became the seventh and eighth four-time first-team All-Ivy selections.
Ella Cashman, a junior, earned her second-straight first-team honor as a defensive midfielder. Cashman had three goals and three assists while also helping a defense that allowed only 7.6 shots per game, the lowest by a Princeton team since 2018.
Clem Houlden, a sophomore, is now a two-time first-team All-Ivy selection. Like Cashman, she was a key member of the defense, and she also had a goal and an assist.
Olivia Caponiti has started the last 15 games this season in her first year as the No. 1 goalie for the Tigers. She ranks sixth in Division I in goals-against average at 0.88 per game, and she also had five shutouts while earning one National Defensive Player of the Week Award.
Ottilie Sykes is now a three-time All-Ivy League selection, with one first-team and one honorable mention in addition to this year's second-team. Sykes is another key component of the defense, and she has four goals and two assists as well.
Caitlin Thompson, a freshman, leads all Ivy League freshmen in goals and is tied for ninth in Division I with seven goals. Thompson's goals have all come in the last seven games — all Princeton wins — on 21 shots. She also has an assist.
Helena Große, a veteran defender who started four games this year and had her first career goal, is a Public and International Affairs major with a near-perfect GPA.
