Samuels and Whitchurch Earn CSC Academic All-America Honors
December 16, 2025 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. – Andrew Samuels and Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch received Academic All-America honors, the CSC announced Tuesday.
Samuels, a junior goalkeeper from Burlingame, Calif., was named to the First Team, while senior defender Whitchurch, hailing from San Diego, Calif., was named to the Second Team. It is the first time both players have received Academic All-America honors.
The prestigious awards come after Samuels and Whitchurch led Princeton to one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2025, with the Tigers going undefeated to win the Ivy League Championship while also winning the Ivy League Tournament.
In addition to going 7-0 in the Ivy League, the Tigers did not allow a single goal in conference play, marking a league first. Winning the double championship, Princeton also became the first team to win both the regular season and tournament titles in a single season.
Samuels, a public and international affairs major, also set a new program record for most shutouts in a single season with 12 on the year. Allowing just four goals in the regular season, he led the nation in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts going into postseason. He was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, and the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Captain Whitchurch, an economics major, has been a rock for the Tigers, starting 16 games for the Tigers this season while missing three due to injury. His leadership and clinical precision along the back line helped Princeton to one of the nation's best defenses. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-America last week.
Both Samuels and Whitchurch were First Team All-Ivy and United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees.
Having been invited to the MLS College Showcase last weekend, Samuels and Whitchurch will now await the 2026 MLS Superdraft on Thursday, Dec. 18.
