Women’s Swimming & Diving To Host Ivy League Championships At DeNunzio Pool

PRINCETON, N.J.- Just a season ago, the Princeton women's swimming and diving team won their second consecutive Ivy League Championship at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The Tigers will now look to three-peat at home at DeNunzio Pool.
The meet will kick off on Wednesday, Feb. 19 with the 200 medley relay followed by the 800 freestyle relay at 6:00 PM.
Feb. 20-22 will start with 11:00 AM event preliminaries before the 6:00 PM event finals on each day.
New Season New Records
This season, five different members of the Princeton roster recorded top 10 times in six different events. Jenna Walters and Eleanor Sun both recorded a time of 49.59 this season in the 100 freestyle, good for ninth in the event. Sun also added a 2:12.56 time in the 200 breaststroke which puts her at sixth. Dakota Tucker now sits fourth in the 1000 freestyle thanks to a 9:49.52 time at H-Y-P. Sabrina Johnston is now tied for second all time in the 100 backstroke and seventh in the 200 individual medley. Isabella Korbly rounds out the group after recording a 1:56.03 in the 200 backstroke at Big Al for fifth in program history.
Sun Shines Bright
Eleanor Sun broke the first pool record of the season for Princeton at the Battle for the Cannon Trophy against Rutgers. The sophomore came in at 1:59.51 in the 200 IM to set the new record in the event.
2023-24 NCAA Qualifiers
The Tigers return four swimmers and three divers who competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Dakota Tucker swam in three events- the 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke. Eleanor Sun joined Tucker in the 200 IM and 400 IM and also competed in the 200 butterfly. Sabrina Johnston swam the 50 and 100 freestyle. Heidi Smithwick rounds out the group of swimmers and she competed in the 200 butterfly.
Charlotte Martinkus, Francesca Noviello and Maddie Seltzer represented Princeton in diving. Seltzer competed on all three boards while Novielo and Martinkus competed on 1-meter and 3-meter.
All-Ivy
Princeton picked up three major Ivy League awards and was First Team All-Ivy in 11 events and Second Team in eight events.
Head coach Abby Brethauer was named the Coach of the Year, Dakota Tucker the High Point Swimmer of the Meet and Ellie Marquardt '24 the Career High Point Swimmer.
Olympic Moments
Dakota Tucker (South Africa), Heidi Smithwick (United States), Eleanor Sun (United States) and Donata Katai (Zimbabwe) pursued berths for the 2024 Paris Olympics this past summer by competing at the Olympic trials.
New Faces At DeNunzio
The Princeton women's swimming and diving team welcomed six new members to the team as part of the Class of 2028. Maggie Squire, Charlotte Norman, Jenna Walters, Natalie Farquhar, Nicole DePree and Katherine White will make their debut this weekend for the Tigers.
