Sun, 200 Free Relay Set Records As Princeton Builds Lead After Day Two Of Ivy Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's swimming & diving team sits in first place after the second day of competition at the Ivy League Championships at DeNunzio Pool, as the Tigers won four out of the five events contested Thursday.
Princeton is first with 546.50 points, while Harvard is second with 48- and Yale third with 356.
The night was highlighted by an outstanding swim in the 200 freestyle relay, where the team of Sabrina Johnston, Ela Noble, Veronique Rossouw and Heidi Smithwick clocked in at 1:28.22 to earn a first-place finish, an NCAA A cut, a school record, a pool record and a meet record.

The 200 IM saw the Tigers earn a 1-2-3 sweep; Eleanor Sun touched the wall at 1:55.50 to earn the victory along with a new pool record. Dakota Tucker came in second in 1:57.56 and Eliza Brown third in 1:59.25. In the B final, Meg Wheeler's time of 2:00.59 saw her finish third, while Grace Black finished sixth in the C final with a time of 2:02.94.??MONSTER SWIM ALERT??

Johnston repeated as champion in the 50 freestyle after she touched the wall at 22.30, and Noble came in second after finishing in 22.43. Princeton earned two out of the top three finishes in the B final, as Rossouw won it in 22.65 and Jenna Walters took third in 23.09. Charlotte Martinkus won the 1-meter diving for the second time in her career, earning a score of 302.35. She was joined in the A final by Charlotte Norman, whose score of 280.20 saw her finish seventh. Princeton also earned valuable points in the 500 freestyle, as Natalie Farquhar's time of 4:45.93 saw her take third. Heidi Smithwick also advanced to the A final and finished fifth in 4:46.94.
