Sun's 400 IM Win Highlights Day 3 At Ivy Championships As Princeton Continues To Lead
February 21, 2025 | Women's Swimming and Diving
Eleanor Sun is putting together a pretty good weekend at the Ivy League women's swimming and diving championships at DeNunzio Pool. Her Princeton team is doing so as well.
Sun added another individual win in the 400 individual medley Friday night, giving her two first place finishes in two days with a time of 4:06.22 that is the 11th best in the country to date this season. This swim came one night after she took the 200 IM in a pool record time as well.
Sun's win in the 400 IM was Princeton's only first place finish Friday night. There were enough other high finishes to put the Tigers somewhat comfortably in first place entering the final day of the meet.
Through three days, Princeton has 964 points, nearly 100 better than second-place Harvard, who has 873.50. There will be one more day of preliminaries at 11 and finals at 6 as the Tigers chase the big prize.
Sun led a 1-2-3 Tiger finish in the 400 IM, with Dakota Tucker in second jn 4:07.83 and Meg Wheeler in a dead heat for third at 4:12.07 along with Brown's Summer Chmielewski. All three Princeton swimmers bettered the NCAA B qualifying time.
Princeton went 3-4-5 in the 100 backstroke, where the highlight was Sabrina Johnston's program record 52.63 in the prelims. Johnston (52.80), Isabella Korbly (53.38 and Alexa Pappas (53.44) all met the B qualifying time as well.
Heidi Smithwick did the same in the 100 butterfly, where her 53.12 was good for second place and the B standard. Jenna Walters finished third in the 200 free.
Princeton's 400 medley relay team of Korbly, Eliza Brown, Sun and Noble finished second in the final event of the night.
