FAIRFAX, V.A. – Kole Mulhauser took third place in the 184 class and Chris Martino took fifth place in the 149 bracket as the Princeton wrestling team competed at the Patriots Last Chance Open at George Mason on Sunday.
Mulhauser went 2-1 on the day, earning a major decision over Virginia's Jack Lesher before clinching third with a major victory over teammate Mikey Squires.
Martino earned two fall victories while going 3-1 on the day. After a first round loss to Jaxon Joy, Martino worked his way back in the consolation bracket. His first pin was a 44-second stunner over American's Mikey Glynos. A medical forfeit over Frank Antonelli sent Martino to the fifth place bout, where he pinned Jackson Butler in 5:25.
Squires, returning to the mat for the first time since January 10, went 1-2 on the day with a major decision over Maryland's Dom Solis. He claimed fourth place in the 184 class.
Freshman Xavier Giles picked up a fall victory over Rider's JP Hangey in the first round of the 174 class, also going 1-2 on the day.
