February 09, 2025 | Women's Water Polo
CAMBRIDGE – Kayla Yelensky scored four times as the No. 8 Princeton Women's Water Polo Team defeated the No. 15 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 9-7, to finish the Harvard Invitational on Sunday.
Kate Mallery's goal with 1:37 to go in the first quarter put the Tigers in front, 2-1. UC Santa Barbara registered the next two tallies, but this impressive goal by Shanna Davidson evened the score at three.
After the two teams exchanged goals, Yelensky and Mallery put the Tigers ahead, 6-4, with 90 seconds remaining in the third stanza.
The Guachos snagged the next two tallies before the Tigers put the contest away with three consecutive goals from Emese Batizi, Davidson and Yelensky.
Princeton is now 5-2 on the season with three ranked victories. Head coach Derek Ellingson's squad will head back to Cambridge in two weeks for more CWPA action.
