Blake Ties Program Record For Goals In A Game As Women's Lax Routs Rutgers, 20-8
March 12, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
Another night, another record-matching performance for a Princeton Women's Lacrosse player.
McKenzie Blake tied the program record with eight goals, establishing a new career high for the senior standout and marking the fourth time in the last five games that a Princeton attacker has set or matched a single-game program record after Haven Dora set and then equalled the program high in assists (7) and Jami MacDonald tied the program best in points (10).
An eight-goal, one-assist performance led to a nine-point night for McKenzie Blake that furthered her climb into the upper echelon of Princeton's all-time record book. Her sixth goal of the night was her 200th point of her career, making her the ninth player if program history to reach the 200-point plateau. At the end of the evening, Blake's all-time point total sits at 202.
Over their last four games, Princeton is outscoring opponents by a 76-25 margin and are averaging 19.0 goals-per-game.
Haven Dora had a six-point night with two goals and four assists, while Jami MacDonald had five points of her own with two goals and three helpers. Meg Morrisroe and Sophie Whiteway also had two-goal nights for the attack, with Whiteway pitching in four draw controls.
Abigail Roberts was a force in the midfield with five draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover. Dylan Allen was right alongside her with a two-caused turnover, two-ground ball night.
In goal, Amelia Hughes made nine saves while allowing six goals in 49:05 of work. Elizabeth Gonnella made four stops in her 10:55 of play.

How It Happened
- McKenzie Blake was dominant in the first quarter, scoring a hat trick as the Tigers stormed out to a 7-1 lead.
- Blake opened the scoring 1:00 in, part of a 7-0 run for the Tigers to begin the game. Maggie Molnar and Colette Quinn quickly followed for the Tigers, giving Princeton a 3-0 lead before the game was 2:00 old.
- Princeton's defense kept Rutgers at bay throughout the opening quarter, holding the Scarlet Knights off the scoreboard for the first 14:11 of the game. Rutgers had just five total shots in the first quarter, and three on goal.
- In the second quarter, Rutgers scored twice early to cut Princeton's lead to four at 7-3, but the Tigers countered with five of the next six to close the half and take a 12-4 lead to the break.
- Five different Tigers scored during that 5-1 run to finish the first half, with Blake, Morrisroe, Dora, Grace Mulham and Lane Calkins each finding the back of the net. The Calkins goal came as time expired in the first half via an assist from Blake who picked up the rebound of a MacDonald free position that was saved by Lexie Coldiron.
- Out of halftime, Princeton's stars continued to shine as MacDonald, Dora and Blake pushed the Tigers to a 10-goal lead with 7:27 to play in the third quarter and started up the running clock for the rest of the game.
- Meg Morrisroe put a cap on things with 0:07 to play off an assist from Maddie Mitchell for her first career point.
The Tigers are off until March 21 when they take on Towson in Baltimore at 7 p.m.ÂBuzzer Beater!
