Ivy Champs! No. 5 Women's Lacrosse Clinches 17th Ivy Title!
April 19, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
It's Coming Home!
For the 17th time, Princeton has secured an Ivy League women's lacrosse championship as No. 5 Princeton defeated No. 18 Brown, 15-13, at Sherrerd Field. With the win, Princeton improves to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in the Ivy League, assuring at least a share of the Ivy title. The Bears fall to 10-4 and are 4-2 in Ivy League play.
A win next weekend at Dartmouth would clinch the outright championship for Princeton, who is also awaiting this weekend's results to see if they have locked in hosting rights for the 2025 Ivy League Tournament May 2-4.
It was a Senior Day to remember for the Class of 2025 as they capped their careers with a second Ivy League championship to go with a title won as first-year players in 2022.
Jami MacDonald led all Princeton scorers with four goals, while Colette Quinn had a hat trick and Meg Morrisroe added two goals.
Quinn's goal set off a 5-0 Princeton run as the Tigers took a lead at 4-3 with 11:53 to go in the first half and never trailed the rest of the way.
The Bears would get within one at 7-6 before halftime and again at 10-9 with 4:12 to play in the third quarter, but the Tigers had a response each time.
Brown had one final push, scoring three in a row to cut Princeton's lead to two with 5:40 to play, but aa McKenzie Blake free position goal with 3:01 to play provided some final breathing room.
A Brown goal with 1:02 to play and a win on the ensuing draw made it interesting, but rookie Zoe Bye caused one final Brown turnover when she drew a charge with under a minute to play and Princeton held the ball the rest of the way.

Seniors McKenzie Blake (3g, 2a, 3dc) and Sophie Whiteway (2g, 4dc, 2gb) had fantastic games for the Tigers as did classmate Sam Whiting who was all over the field on defense and added a draw control and a ground ball.Win The Draw... Score A Goal!

Amelia Hughes made seven saves in goal, but none was bigger than a point-blank stop in the fourth quarter to keep her team in front by four at the time.Oh Wow!!

Both offenses were slow to start as each side showed strong defensive mettle to open the game. The Bears scored 0:43 in, but that was the only goal of the first 7:50 of play before Morrisroe tied it. The Bears netted the next two to take a 3-1 lead with 2:20 to play in the opening period, but a Colette Quinn goal with 0:17 to play in the first seemingly sparked the Princeton offense.Brick Wall Alert!

After Brown made it 10-9, the Tigers scored the next four and effectively slammed the door. Four different players had goals in that run, started by Whiteway with 0:58 to play in the third and then goals from Quinn and Blake 0:11 apart in the opening minute of the fourth quarter followed by one from MacDonald 1:21 into the final frame to give the Tigers a 14-9 lead.Behind The Back & Through The Five-Hole!
