CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Princeton men's tennis team faced St. John's on Saturday morning with its sights set on advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
After securing the doubles point, the Tigers worked efficiently and swept the Red Storm 4-0. Princeton will now face No. 4 Virginia with a spot in the Super Regionals on the line.
"Congrats to St. John's, they have a tremendous team and had a great year," head coach Billy Pate said. "It was a hard fought battle as St. John's pushed us and made us work for every point. I'm very proud of Aleks for clinching as his guy was an incredibly tough out and had only lost one time on the year. As we have said many times, our goal is not only to make the NCAA's but to advance. Today we did that and have a great opportunity in front of us."
