Nittolo Joins Men’s Tennis Coaching Staff
August 19, 2025 | Men's Tennis
Ethan Nittolo has joined the Princeton University men's tennis coaching staff as announced by head coach Billy Pate.
"We are delighted to welcome Ethan to our program," Pate said. "He's an impressive up and coming college coach and he will be a wonderful asset for our players. We've had the pleasure of knowing Ethan as a player, as well as his coaching tenure at Buffalo - where he worked with my former colleague Lee Nickell. They do such a tremendous job of player and character development and I know Ethan will bring those experiences with him as he helps us compete at the highest level nationally."
After graduating from the University of Buffalo in 2019, Nittolo joined the staff at his alma mater before taking over as an assistant in 2020. In his time coaching the Bulls, the team owned a 50-49 record. In 2025, Buffalo had a 18-6 record and worked back into the national rankings at 70. This was the first time the team has been ranked since 2014 as they went on to win the MAC conference championship.
Nittolo finished his Buffalo career by winning the Jack Vredevelt Sportsmanship award, which is given annually to a senior who has displayed outstanding sportsmanship throughout his career.
Nittolo was also named to the All-MAC First Team after earning second team honors as a Junior. Playing at first singles, Nittolo went 7-5, finishing 20-12 overall, tied for the most wins on the team. The all-time winningest doubles player in school history, Nittolo went 7-5 at first doubles this year, earning 14 victories along the way.
Nittolo also finished his senior season ranked 20th in singles in the Northeast Region, just one of two non-Ivy League players in the final rankings. He finished his Buffalo career as the all-time leader in double victories with 67 and third all-time in singles triumphs with 75.
Nittolo collected several accolades across his career including the 2017 MAC tournament MVP and MAC champion.
