PRINCETON, N.J. – Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch was named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watch List, United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday.
Whitchurch is one of just seven defenders and 29 players nationally selected to the list, compiled by members of the Division I Men's All-America Council from a list of returning 2024 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players.
Whitchurch, a 2025 captain for the Tigers, returns to Princeton for his senior season after earning First Team All-Ivy honors last season.
A cornerstone of the Tiger defense last year, Whitchurch started all 19 matches for the Tigers while recording a squad-high 1717 minutes.
His efforts helped Princeton to a goals-against average of just 1.16. He also scored a goal in the Tigers' season opener against Rutgers.
After playing a key role in Princeton's first ever Ivy Tournament Championship victory, which saw the Tigers down two ranked opponents en-route to the title, Whitchurch was also named to the Ivy League All-Tournament team.
Excelling off the field too, Whitchurch earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
This preseason, Whitchurch was named to the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list as one of just 21 defenders selected. He was also ranked 57th in the TopDrawerSoccer preseason top 100.
Hailing from San Diego, Calif., Whitchurch was a 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-American and ranked no. 98 overall by TopDrawerSoccer before beginning his career in the Orange & Black.
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor in collegiate soccer, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 9 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists.
The 2025 recipient will be announced January 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
