ITA KICKOFF WEEKEND INFORMATION
The perfect start for the Princeton men's tennis team continued with a perfect effort against Miami on the first day of the ITA Kickoff Weekend's University of San Diego Regional.
Princeton won the doubles point and the first three singles matches to take down the Hurricanes 4-0 and advance to the second round. Next up for the Tigers will be the winner of the second match of the day, between the No. 8 San Diego and Arizona State.
"It was a very solid win against Miami for our first outdoor match of the spring," said Princeton head coach Billy Pate. "Through three matches I'm very pleased with our doubles and being able to establish some momentum early by securing that point. In singles we established some leads and got through some close first sets. I like the way our guys fought through the crucial moments and then found the finish line. Tomorrow will be another challenge, whether it's USD or ASU. It's a great opportunity but we will have to be at our very best."
Princeton is now 3-0 on this long road trip, which began with a 5-2 win at Boise State and continued with a 6-1 win at Washington. Miami came in 3-0 on the young season and had not lost an individual match in any of the three.
The Tigers grabbed the doubles point with wins by Landon Ardila and Paul Inchauspe at No. 1 and Sebastian Sec and Aleksanar Mitric at No. 3. Ardila, Sec and Milan Markovits all won their singles matches in straight sets for the 4-0 final
