The Princeton men's tennis team took longer to get back from San Diego to New Jersey than it will take the team to play its next three matches.
Princeton will make its 2026 home debut this weekend, with one match Friday against Oklahoma State (5) and two more Sunday, against Liberty (10 am) and Virginia Tech (3 pm). The busy weekend follows a Western swing that grew from 10 days to 13 after the major snowstorm in the Northeast made a mess of the Tigers' travel home.
"After a very long road trip last week our guys are happy to be at home and looking forward to a highly competitive slate of matches this weekend," says Princeton head coach Billy Pate. "First up, on Friday night, we anticipate a fierce battle with Oklahoma State. We lost a very close 4-3 match at their place two years ago, and they have great talent top to bottom. We know they are well coached and disciplined so we'll have to perform at our highest level."
Princeton is 3-1 on the young season, with wins over Boise State, Washington and Miami and a loss to Arizona State. Oklahoma State comes to New Jersey with a 3-0 record after 7-0 wins over Saint Joseph's, UT Rio Grande Valley and Saint Louis. The Cowboys will follow their trip to Princeton with another match Sunday at Yale.
This will be the third time Princeton and Oklahoma State play and first time in New Jersey. OK State leads the series 2-0, most recently a 4-3 win in Stillwater two seasons ago.
Liberty begins the weekend at 1-2 with losses to Auburn and Georgia Tech and a win at home against Richmond. The Flames will also be playing two Ivy opponents this weekend, as they will head to Princeton after hosting Penn Friday.
Virginia Tech is 0-2, after losses at No. 1 Wake Forest and North Carolina last weekend.
