Men's Tennis Upends Oklahoma State, 4-3
January 30, 2026 | Men's Tennis
The home opener for Princeton was a thrilling back-and-forth affair with Oklahoma State that came down to the very last match where Princeton's Sebastian Sec won a three-set battle against Nicolas Kobelt to secure a 4-3 win for the Tigers.
The win is the first for the Tigers (4-1) over Oklahoma State (3-1) in program history after dropping the first two dual matches between the two schools.
"It was a great bounce back after a heartbreaker versus ASU last week," said head coach Billy Pate. "This time we had to claw from behind and our guys hung in and did a great job against a very strong Cowboy team. Oklahoma State really came out aggressive against us in doubles so we needed to respond. I thought we did a really good job in first sets but still needed to turn one match which Sebastian did. I am very proud of him for fighting through an incredibly physical match to secure the win. We'll look forward to a good practice tomorrow and get right back at it for our doubleheader on Sunday."
Princeton conceded the doubles point when Oklahoma State picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3, but regrouped with wins from Paul Inchauspe and Fnu Nidunjianzan at the top two singles spots to take the lead. A 6-3, 6-4 in from Landon Ardila at No. 3 singles put the Tigers ahead, 3-2, before the Cowboys leveled the match with a win from Aaron Williams at No. 5 singles to set the stage for the last match remaining on the court.
After dropping the first set, 6-4, Sec won the second, 7-5, to force a third and deciding set. That final set was dominated by Sec who sprinted to a 6-1 win to close out the victory to open a three-match homestand.
