Softball Splits Saturday Pair in Florida

Princeton split a Saturday doubleheader in Jacksonville, opening the day with a 6-1 win over Stony Brook before dropping a 7-6 decision to host North Florida at the UNF Softball Complex.
Game 1, Princeton 6, Stony Brook 1
In her first collegiate complete game, rookie Reece Uehara went the distance in the circle, allowing three hits and just one unearned run while striking out three in a complete-game effort.
The Tigers collected 16 hits and scored in four different innings. Julia Dumais homered and drove in two, while Braeden Hale also left the yard and finished with two hits and an RBI.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the second on an Allie Goodwin RBI single, Princeton added two more in the third, on Hale's solo homer and a Courtney Harrison RBI single, another in the fourth on a Sonia Zhang RBI single, and broke it open with two in the fifth on Dumais' blast.
Stony Brook scored its lone run of the game in the fifth inning after Princeton built its 6-0 lead.
Game 2, North Florida 7, Princeton 6
Princeton jumped in front immediately in the nightcap when Karis Ford launched a three-run homer in the first inning.
North Florida answered with four runs in the third to take the lead, but the Tigers surged back in the fifth. RBI hits from Hale and Zhang, the latter driving in two, pushed Princeton back in front at 6–4.
The Ospreys responded again in the bottom half with what became the game-winning runs. A two-run homer by Bella Cimino tied the game, and Ayden Allen followed with a solo shot to give North Florida the lead for good.
Princeton put traffic on in the seventh, loading the bases with one out, but the Ospreys quelled the threat.
Hale paced the offense by going 4 for 4 with an RBI, while Graciela Dominguez scored twice.
Princeton will wrap the weekend with a 10 a.m. game against Iona at North Florida.
