PRINCETON, N.J. – After the opening night of competition at the Ivy League Championships at DeNunzio Pool, the No. 20 Princeton University men's swimming & diving team and Yale (RV) split first place with 120 points after a session highlighted by the Tigers' 800 freestyle relay team earning a first-place finish, breaking a pair of records and punching a ticket to the NCAA Championships.
The team of Arthur Balva, Mitchell Schott, Parker Lenoce, and Patrick Dinu delivered a victory in the 800 freestyle relay, posting a time of 6:09.80. The swim set both an Ivy League and program record, earned an NCAA Championships qualification, and moved the quartet to 11th in the national rankings.
Yanning Zhang, Andrew Zou, Logan Noguchi, and Dinu kicked off the meet for Princeton in the 200 medley relay, finishing second in 1:24.35. Their performance set a new program record.
Competition continues tomorrow with prelims beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by finals at 6:00 PM.
