Five Tigers Set to Represent Princeton at NCAA Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – Five Tigers will represent the Princeton wrestling team at the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, beginning on Thursday, Mar. 19. The three-day championship tournament will take place in Rocket Arena, and feature six sessions as the Tigers compete for a spot on the podium.
The preliminary round will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday.

By making the finals at their respective weights at the Ivy League Tournament, Marc-Anthony McGowan and Ty Whalen secured automatic bids to Cleveland. Holden Garcia, Matthew Martino and Eligh Rivera all received at-large bids to nationals, as decided by the committee.

Princeton sends five qualifiers to the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, marking the ninth time in program history that the program has had five or more advance to nationals.
At The Ivy Championships
Marc-Anthony McGowan won his second-consecutive Ivy League Championship title at 125. Seeded second at the tournament, he took down Columbia's Sulayman Bah in the semifinal before getting a 10-2 major decision over Penn's Davis Motyka in the final.
Ty Whalen claimed silver at 165, falling in OT in the final to Cesar Alvan of Columbia. Holden Garcia claimed bronze at 174.
Season Recap
The Tigers went 4-11 on the season, falling to four ranked opponents. The Tigers finished fifth in the Ivy League standings, with wins over Brown and Penn. Four of the Tigers' losses on the season were decided by two points or fewer.
