No. 20 Women's Lacrosse Edged By No. 12 Stony Brook, 10-8
April 01, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse
No. 20 Princeton (4-5) conceded the game's first three goals, providing enough cushion for No. 12 Stony Brook (9-2) to stave off all attempts at a Tiger comeback as Princeton fell to the visiting Sea Wolves, 10-8, at Sherrerd Field.
The loss is the second in a row for the Tigers and the fifth this season to a Top-25 opponent.
Jami MacDonald, Meg Morrisroe and Colette Quinn each had two goal for Princeton. Abigail Roberts had four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
In goal, Amelia Hughes did all she could to keep the Tigers within range as she made 14 total saves in the game.
Isabell Caporuscio had three goals for Stony Brook, adding two caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls. Breaden Siverson won nine draws for the Sea Wolves while Hailey Huebner had four caused turnovers and four draw controls.
Stony Brook jumped out to a 3-0 lead 3:15 into the game with goals from Olivia Schorr, Mirabell Altebrando and Julia Fusco.
The Tigers would chip away, getting to within a goal on three separate occasions when the score was 4-3, 5-4, and 6-5. It was a MacDonald goal with 11:07 to play in the third quarter that got the Tigers within one for the last time, but Stony Brook answered with three in a row to effectively slam the door with a four-goal lead.
Princeton had one more rally attempt left, and goals from MacDonald 3:03 into the fourth quarter and Morrisroe with 5:37 to play saw the Tigers claw back to within two at 10-8 but that was as close as the Tigers got the rest of the way as a Dora shot with under 1:30 to go was just wide of the near right post and the Sea Wolves were able to run out the clock.
Princeton returns to Ivy play in April 4, hosting Cornell at Sherrerd Field with opening draw set for 12 p.m.
