#3 Men’s Lightweight Rowing Wins Platt Cup & Harriott Trophy
April 11, 2026 | Men's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON, N.J. – The #3 Princeton University men's lightweight rowing hosted #9 Cornell at Lake Carnegie Saturday, and won both the Platt Cup and Harriott Trophy.
"To win the Platt Cup and Harriott Trophy at home is always special," said Head Coach Matt Smith. "This is an epic race between two schools and is a display how awesome the lightweight league is year in and year out. This year the Harriott Trophy was awarded to the winner of the 2V. All four Princeton lightweight boats displayed real grit into the brutal headwind that was out there. For the 3V and 4V to race in the heavyweight races was great. The 1V and 2V did an amazing job of racing hard and staying internal. We look forward to racing Penn and Georgetown at home next weekend."
The 1V (6:05.56) crossed the finish line ahead of the Big Red (6:09.84) to win the Platt Cup while the 2V (6:26.59) earned a commanding victory over Cornell (6:50.45) to win the Harriott Trophy.
"Really good racing from all four boats and great to get wins in the 1V and 2V to stay undefeated on the season," said Liam Dooley. "It's also exciting to have our own trophy to race for in the 2v event with the Harriott Trophy. The focus now is defending Lake Carnegie against Penn and Georgetown next week for the last home race for the seniors!"
The 3V (6:54.69) raced against Syracuse (6:46.68) and Brown's (6:52.75) heavyweight boats, and the 4V (6:39.67) finished ahead of the University of Pennsylvania's 5V (6:53.45) and came close to Princeton's heavyweight 5V (6:33.87).
