The Ivy League women's tennis regular season has one weekend to go and three teams who are chasing the championship.
Princeton opens the weekend alone in first place at 5-0 after a huge win over Columbia last weekend, a 4-2 Tiger victory that dropped the Lions to 4-1. Yale is also 4-1 with a loss to Columbia earlier.
The permutations are numerous as those three teams play for the league title and automatic NCAA tournament bid. The most simplistic path belongs to Princeton, who would be the outright champ with two wins this weekend
That won't be easy. The first stop on the Tiger road trip is New Haven for a match against Yale Saturday at 1, followed by the regular-season finale at Brown Sunday at 1. Yale will play home against Penn Sunday, and Columbia will be at Harvard and Dartmouth.
A Princeton win either day would mean no worse than a share of the league title, and two wins would guarantee an outright championship. A Yale win over Princeton, on the other hand, would open the door to a possible three-way tie for first.
In the event of a tie after the weekend, the first tiebreaker for the NCAA bid would be head-to-head. If there's a three-way tie at 6-1, then the tiebreaker would become ITA ranking, where Princeton is currently 39 , Yale is currently 40 and Columbia is currently 49.
Brown, Princeton's Sunday opponent, is 66th.
