Layla Giordano Named Ivy Athlete of Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Layla Giordano was named Ivy League Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, following a solid week for the sophomore thrower that saw her set the Ivy League record in the discus.
Against Rider on Tuesday night, Giordano threw 59.94m in the discus, breaking the league record and setting a new top NCAA mark. Her throw currently ranks second on the NCAA performance list.
On Saturday, Giordano set a new outdoor best in the shot put, throwing 15.65m. Winning that and the discus again, it marked her third event win in one week.
It is the first time Giordano has earned Ivy Athlete of the Week honors.
