Shaw Leads Four Tigers on NFCA All-Region Teams

Four members of the Princeton softball team have earned NFCA All-East Region honors, the coaches organization announced Thursday.
Junior pitcher Cassidy Shaw was named first-team all-region, while rookie outfielder Mia Valenzuela, junior designated player Karis Ford and junior second baseman Graciela Dominguez earned third-team honors.
It is the first career NFCA all-region honor for all four Tigers.
The recognition comes after Princeton won the Ivy League regular-season and tournament championships and earned the program's 13th NCAA tournament appearance. The Tigers enter the Stillwater Regional at 33-13 overall after going 18-3 in Ivy play and sweeping through the Ivy League Tournament.
Shaw, the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player and a first-team All-Ivy League honoree, enters the NCAA tournament at 16-3 with a 2.57 ERA, one save and 102 strikeouts in 117.1 innings. She led the Ivy League in wins and ranked second in ERA, WHIP and appearances while ranking third in strikeouts, innings pitched and strikeout-to-walk ratio. Shaw went 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 15 innings during the Ivy League Tournament, starting all three games as Princeton won the title.
Valenzuela, a second-team All-Ivy League selection, enters the NCAA tournament hitting .371 with 49 hits, 24 runs, 10 doubles, seven home runs and 32 RBI. She was a two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week and was also named Ivy League Player of the Week on March 23. Valenzuela hit .333 in the Ivy League Tournament with three runs, a double, a home run and an RBI.
Ford earned first-team All-Ivy League honors for the second straight season after hitting .377 with 40 hits, 16 runs, six doubles, two triples, six home runs and 28 RBI. Ford enters the NCAA tournament with a .642 slugging percentage and .461 on-base percentage this season and with 21 career home runs and 93 RBI. In Ivy play, Ford hit .419 and ranked among the league leaders in OPS and slugging percentage.
Dominguez, a first-team All-Ivy League selection and Ivy League All-Tournament Team honoree, enters the NCAA tournament hitting a team-best .435 with 67 hits, 38 runs, 15 doubles, two home runs, 23 RBI, 21 walks and a .500 on-base percentage. Dominguez led the Ivy League in hits and ranked among the league leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, doubles, runs and RBI. She was dominant in the Ivy League Tournament, hitting .800 (8 for 10) with two runs, a double and five RBI while leading the tournament in hits and total bases.
Princeton will open NCAA Regional play Friday at 1 p.m. CT against Stanford in Stillwater, Okla.
