June 12, 2026 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
CRCA Release
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its major awards, and the Princeton University women's lightweight rowing team swept the honors.
Cate Barry was named Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year, Katherine McFetridge Coach of the Year and the Tigers' staff was honored as Coaching Staff of the Year.
"I am elated that our staff is being recognized nationally for their dedication to our team this year," said McFetridge. "The success of Princeton Lightweight Women's Rowing this season was made possible by those who care deeply about our student-athletes and the Princeton rowing community. Our administration, athletic trainers, dietitians, sports psych department, strength and conditioning staff, boathouse directors, and SID team are incredibly devoted and skilled.
Assistant Coach Chris Pedicone was an invaluable source of experience throughout the year and a real stabilizer for our program. Chris brings joy to our team, and we are incredibly lucky to have him.
When our ladies showed up to the starting line this season, they knew they had an army behind them."
Barry, also a CRCA All-American, and the Tigers' staff led Princeton to a fifth-consecutive Commissioner's Cup title at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship Regatta, along with gold medals in the 8+ and 4+. The Tigers also retained the team points trophy at women's sprints, winning gold in the 8+ and 4+, with Princeton's B boat winning bronze in the 4+.
Barry offered thoughts on what earning the prestigious accolade meant to her.
"I am truly honored to receive this award, and I am so excited to share this recognition with my teammates and coaches, whom I am exceptionally fortunate to row alongside and learn from," said Barry. "My teammates on Princeton Lights are not only incredibly talented athletes, but also remarkably hardworking and selfless individuals. Every day I am inspired by the way they challenge, support, and believe in one another. They are there to celebrate every success, and stand by me through every setback. I would also like to thank my coaches at Princeton for always setting a standard of excellence, and guiding us every step of the way. While I am so proud of the success this team has achieved on the water, I am even more proud of the resilience, camaraderie, and commitment to one another that each and every member of this team brings to our program. Thank you again for this recognition. I am deeply grateful and proud to represent Princeton Lightweight Rowing. As always, Go Tigers!"
