Dan Tischler Joins Baseball Coaching Staff As Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

Robert H.B. Baldwin '42 Head Coach of Princeton Baseball Ryan Forrest has added a familiar face in Ivy League baseball circles to his coaching staff with the addition of Dan Tischler as Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator.
Tischler, who has most recently served as head coach at Wheaton College during the 2026 season, spent two seasons on staff alongside Forrest at Boston College from 2024-25. Prior to that, he spent 11 seasons at Columbia during one of the most successful periods in program history where the Lions won five Ivy League championships and played in five NCAA Tournaments. He also spent two seasons coaching at Cornell, winning an Ivy League championship in 2012.
"I am excited to welcome Dan, his wife Kat and his son Zach to the Princeton Baseball Family," said Forrest. "Dan is a relentless recruiter and has an unbelievable eye and knowledge for talent around the country. He is one who builds authentic relationships with the student-athletes and had developed some extremely dangerous and dynamic offenses. I am excited to see what he is able to accomplish with our current student-athletes and the impact he will have on our program."
In his lone season as head coach at Wheaton, Tischler guided his team to a 26-13 overall record and a 10-6 mark in conference play. Tischler coached Brayden Lewis to NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors and a selection to the ABCA All-Region team. Off the field, the Lyons received an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the first time since the award was first presented in 2016, had three players named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, and matched their program record with seven NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selections.

In his two seasons at Boston College, Tischler helped the Eagles to 50 wins while overseeing offensive philosophy and working with infielders en route to a .978 fielding percentage during the 2024 season.
Over 11 seasons at Columbia, first as assistant coach during the 2013-18 seasons and as Associate Head Coach during the 2019-23 seasons, Tischler helped the Lions to a 134-71 (.654) overall winning percentage and five Ivy League championships en route to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
During his time with Columbia, the squad became the first squad in Ivy League history to capture the number three seed in the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons (2014 & 2015) and earned the number three seed again for the 2022 Tournament. The Lions dominated the league with records of 16-4 in 2013, 15-5 in 2014, 16-4 in 2015 and 17-4 in 2022. In January of 2019, Tischler was named Associate Head Coach with Columbia and continued to help the program set school records in home runs, total bases, hits, runs scored and doubles, while leading the Ivy in batting average, hits, doubles, homers, walks and stolen bases from 2013-2022.
The Lions' defense was stellar in the Ivy as well under Tischler's tutelage, recording team fielding marks of .983 in 2013, .975 in 2015 and .982 in 2018 during conference play, while posting a team-record figure of .975 for the balance of the season in 2014. In addition, Columbia turned 48 double plays to establish a new program standard in 2015.
Under his watch, the Lions produced seven All-Region honorees, 24 All-Conference recipients, a pair of Ivy League Players of the Year, and saw seven players drafted in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Columbia won 28 or more games on four occasions, including a school-record win mark of 34 in 2015. Tischler's impact did not go unnoticed at the prestigious institution, being named an "Assistant We Would Hire" by D1baseball.com in 2022.
Tischler's success at Columbia was foreshadowed at another Ivy League institution as well. In two seasons with Cornell University, the Big Red captured the league crown in 2012 for the first time since 1976. Cornell racked up a school-record 31 victories, while he patrolled the first base coaching box. The Big Red became more aggressive on the basepaths, nearly doubling the previous season's total of 28 stolen bases to 55 during Tischler's final campaign at the school.
His first coaching stint came at Swarthmore College from 2009-10. Tischler spent those two years as the club's pitching coach and helped the Garnet achieve their first 20-win season since 1985, while earning a Centennial Conference Tournament berth for the first time in program history. During his two-year tenure, Swarthmore doubled its victory total, while improving its performance on the mound in multiple categories.
Tischler was a four-year standout on the diamond as well, being named Second Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference during a four-year playing career with Franklin & Marshall College. A Captain for F&M, ended his time as the program's career leader with 10 saves. Tischler graduated Cum Laude from the Lancaster, Pa. school with a degree in History in 2008 and later added a Master of Education degree in 2012 at Columbia.
