Women's Soccer Picked First in Ivy League Preseason Poll

If the Ivy League's preseason poll's prediction proves accurate, the Princeton women's soccer team will be celebrating its third consecutive Ivy League title this fall.
Princeton received 120 points and 10 of the 16 first-place votes to take the top spot in the ranking, announced Tuesday. Dartmouth was second with 109 points and four first-place votes, while Brown was third with 98 points and two first-place votes. Columbia was fourth with 81 points, followed by Harvard with 71, Penn with 45, and Cornell and Yale tied for seventh with 26 points apiece.
The Tigers are coming off their second straight Ivy League title, winning both on the final day of the season. In 2025, Princeton won its final four Ivy games after a 1-2 league start to rally its way to the title, and in 2024, the title came Princeton's way after a regular-season finale win at Columbia to hold off the league runner-up Lions. Princeton hosted the Ivy League Tournament both years, becoming the first team to host the league tournament twice since its inception in 2023. In 2024, Princeton became the first team to win the league double, taking the league and tournament championships.
If the Tigers win the league, they'll be the first team to take three straight league titles since Brown won four from 2019 through 2023 (no title in 2020), and before that, since Princeton won three straight from 2000-02, with two of those shared. All four during Brown's recent run were outright, and the last team to take three unshared titles before that was Harvard from 1995-97.Â
Princeton returns the bulk of its scoring from last season, including junior Alexandra Barry, who led the team with five goals and 14 points, and junior Dylan Jovanovic, who had a team-best six assists while adding two goals and 10 points. The Tigers also return both goalkeepers who played last season in senior Cecilia Cerone and junior Sydney Romano.
Princeton will open the 2026 season Thursday at 7 p.m. at Roberts Stadium against Loyola (Md.) before visiting Syracuse on Sunday.
