Women's ITA All-American Draw/Results
Men's ITA All-American Draw/Results
The complicated road to the NCAA tennis singles and doubles individual tournaments begins this weekend. Will it be a long trip, a short trip or a frustrating trip? That will be settled in the next few weeks, beginning in Tulsa for the men and Cary, N.C., for the women.
The ITA All-American tournament that begins Saturday serves as the first qualifier for the NCAA fields, whose spots will start to be claimed in these two tournaments. Princeton will be represented by five women and four men.
To get to the NCAA field for the individual championships in November in Georgia, players need to advance through either All-American event or later on at the ITA's Sectional or Masters' events. With each tournament, spots will be clinched and available spots will dwindle.
The ITA event starts with a pre-qualifying round, followed by the qualifying round and then the main draw. Princeton's No. 1 singles player Paul Inchauspe, ranked second in the ITA preseason rankings, has a bye into the main draw in Tulsa in both singles and, along with Landon Ardila, doubles.
Ardila, Aleksandar Mitric and Milan Markovits will be playing through the qualifiers, hoping to get into the main draw. For the women, Pearlie Zhang, Madeleine Jessup and Bella Chhiv are in the pre-qualifier for singles, while Alice Ferlito begins in the qualifier. Ferlito and Jessup are also in the pre-qualifier for doubles.
Mitric, Markovits and Ardila for the men and Zhang, Chhiv and Jessup all play Saturday morning in the Round of 256.
