Sophomore Gabriella Anderson was named the Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the Week after she played all 105 minutes in Princeton's season-opening two games for a defense that did not allow a single goal. Anderson also converted her opportunity during Princeton's shootout against North Carolina Sunday.
The season began at the Conference Crossover in Chapel Hill with a 4-0 win over then-No. 18 Old Dominion Friday and then a 1-0 shootout loss to host North Carolina after the teams played 75 scoreless minutes. Anderson, who was named to the NFHCA preseason Watchlist and the 2025 NCAA Final Four All-Tournament team, converted her shootout chance when a miss woud have ended the game right there.
The loss to UNC dropped Princeton from No. 2 to No. 4 in this week's coaches poll. Up next will be the home opener Friday at 5 against Rutgers, ranked No. 17, and then a trip to Penn State Sunday at noon.
