2021-22: Swam a season best 20.83 in the 50 freestyle at HYPs, as well as a 23.78 in the 50 backstroke and 50.26 in the 100 butterfly at the Columbia dual.
2019-20: Season was canceled due to COVID-19.
2019-20: Advanced to the B final of the 100 fly and the 50 freestyle at the Ivy League Championships.
2018-19: set a top time of 22.41 in the 50 freestyle at the Ivy League Championships...competed in five meets.
Before Princeton: Finalist at Winter Junior Nationals West … team captain … named one of Bellarmine's Blue Standard – a strong representation of the senior class … Bellarmine's Matteo Ricci Award winner … Bellarmine's Billy Schmidt Award winner … Scholastic All American for Swimming … High School All American for Swimming.
Personal: Born April 28, 2018 … son of Phu Nguyen and Alan Yates … has a younger brother Keenan … enjoys fishing/spearfishing, solving Rubik's cubes, and the beach … plans to study Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
