Samantha Shaughnessy’s 49 steals led the Tigers defensively last season. She also ranked fourth on the team offensively with 25 goals. She had two three-goal games during the season, scoring three in wins against George Washington and Sonoma State. She added two goals in a win against Harvard and scored a goal and an assist against Bucknell at Easterns. She was a first-team All-Southern selection.
Shaughnessy scored 24 goals to rank fifth on Princeton last season and added in four assists and 22 steals. She had two three-goal games, both of which came against Marist, and added two goals in three other games.
She began playing water polo just six years ago but immediately impacted the Princeton program with 12 goals, five assists and 16 steals as a freshman. She received her high school team’s most improved award after her first season, earned the coach’s award and second-team all-league honors as a junior and was a first-team all-league and all-county pick as a senior. Shaughnessy also swam all four years in high school.
