E.J. Henderson is in his third season as an assistant coach at Princeton. After two years of working with the defensive backs, Henderson will move to the other side of the ball and coach the running backs in 2009. He also serves as the special teams coordinator.
Henderson will have arguably the most talented offensive player in the league this coming season, as unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection Jordan Culbreath returns after rushing for 1,206 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
He formerly served as the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator at Wayne State in Michigan. During his last year at Wayne State, the team recorded its first winning record in 13 seasons.
Henderson, who served an internship program with the Detroit Lions in the summer of 2005 and spent one with the Washington Redskins in the summer of 2008, spent two years as the defensive backfield coach for Division III power Mt. Union. He coached an All-America selection in Chris Kern and helped lead Mt. Union to a national championship in 2002. Prior to that, Henderson was a graduate assistant coach at Louisville. He worked with the wide receivers and special teams during consecutive Conference USA championship seasons for the Cardinals.
Henderson played at Central Washington, where he graduated in 1996 with a degree in travel/tourism management. The 1995 CWU squad shared the NAIA title and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. He earned his master’s of education in health and fitness at Louisville in 2002.
