Chris Hoeland, a 2005 graduate of Princeton High School who had a successful collegiate career at Washington University in St. Louis, completed his second season as assistant coach for the Princeton men's tennis team in 2010-11.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have known Chris and his family ever since I arrived in Princeton 10 years ago," Princeton head men's tennis coach Glenn Michibata said. "He has good tennis ability and knowledge as well as the right amount of selfless, player-first mentality that all coaches need. I know he will make a big contribution to the success of this program.”
Hoeland, who had winning singles and doubles records in each of his four collegiate seasons, finished with a combined career record of 168-57. His 104-30 career doubles record set a Washington University wins record, and he finished with a 64-27 career singles mark while helping his team to the 2008 NCAA Division III team title. Hoeland was a three-time NCAA All-America selection for his doubles play and was a team captain as a senior.
Locally, Hoeland had a 100-9 record as a high schooler, leading to a first-team all-league selection and a county singles title during his career. He also helped PHS to a state Group III title.
