Eric Vreeland played in 27 games as a senior and scored 22 goals to rank third on the team in scoring. A CWPA All-Academic Team member, Vreeland led the team with 28 assists and graduates as Princeton's all-time assists leader with 138, 48 more than second-place John Stover. Vreeland also added 27 assists, which ranked third on the team. He opened the season with assists in the first 11 games, notching two against UCLA, Harvard, Brown, Navy and Bucknell. Vreeland scored a season-high five goals in Princeton's win over Redlands and had a total of five multiple-goal games. He added a pair of goals in games against Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Gannon and MIT. Vreeland recorded two assists in all five games that he scored two or more goals.
Vreeland earned second-team All-Southern and first-team All-Eastern tournament honors as a junior. He led the Tigers for the second time in his career with 44 goals and also had a team-high 40 assists and ranked second with 36 steals. He also tied for the team lead by drawing 38 ejections. Vreeland scored goals in 19 of 29 games played and scored multiple goals on 11 occasions. His season high was four goals, which came on two occasions, in a win over George Washington and in the Eastern semifinal win over Brown. Vreeland also scored the game-winning goal in the closing seconds of Princeton Southern Championship game win over Navy. Vreeland was named a member of the ACWPC and CWPA All-Academic teams.
Vreeland was a second-team All-Southern choice as a sophomore as he scored a team-high 52 goals and recorded his second-straight 35 assist season to lead the team. Vreeland had six games that he scored four or more goals during, including five-goal games against Pacific, UC Santa Cruz, Johns Hopkins and George Washington. Vreeland, who ranks second on Princeton’s career assists list after two seasons, had four games with three assists.
Vreeland was the only freshman to appear in every game for the Tigers and made his presence felt with 21 goals and a team-leading 33 assists. Vreeland started his career off with goals in his first six games. In that stretch, Vreeland had 11 goals and 12 assists. Vreeland had three goals in a loss to Bucknell, and added three assists in a win against Bucknell. He had three goals and six assists over his final four games of the season. He was named to the CWPA All-Academic Team following the season.
Vreeland was a four-year member of the varsity water polo team at Harvard-Westlake. As a senior, he was a second-team All-America and a first-team All-CIF Div. I selection. Vreeland won a gold medal at the 2004 National Age Group Championships (18-and-under) and was a first-team All-America at the tournament. He also competed at the 2003 National Junior Olympics (16-and-under) and won a Gold Medal and was the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. He was a member of the USA Cadet team in 2002 and 2003 and the USA Youth team in 2004.
