Jane Karger begins her first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Princeton women's lacrosse team, having been offered the position by Chris Sailer in August 2014.
Karger is no stranger to Princeton lacrosse as she has worked the Women's Lacrosse Camps for nearly a decade.
Karger works locally at Ultimate Lacrosse after spending eight years in college coaching, most recently at the University of Connecticut.
Karger was an assistant coach at UConn from 2012-14, working primarily with the defense and goalies. She helped to develop a two-time all-Region and all-BIG EAST goalie Shannon Nee and helped guide the team to its first BIG EAST postseason appearance and subsequent NCAA tournament appearance in 2013. In 2014, the Huskies had their best finish in the BIG EAST regular-season conference standings. Karger managed all team travel, including transportation and meals, and was hands on in recruitment and scouting. Karger earned a Master's Degree in educational psychology while coaching in Storrs.
Prior to joining the UConn staff, Karger was an assistant coach at Central Connecticut State from 2011-12. That season proved to have record-breaking success as the Blue Devils set or tied program marks for the most conference wins, best home record and best record in program history. Karger coached the NEC Goalie of the Year Erin DeLancey as part of NEC Coach of the Year Kelly Nangle's staff.
Additional coaching experience includes one year at Connecticut College in 2010-11 and at her alma mater Mount St. Mary's from 2008-10.
A 2008 graduate of Mount St. Mary's, Karger earned a degree in German with a double minor while being the goalkeeper on the lacrosse team. She earned a NEC All-Tournament selection, three NEC Academic Honor Roll accolades and was invited to the North/South Division I All-Star Game. She served as team captain in both her junior and senior years. The Mountaineers competed in the conference tournament in each of her seasons and won two regular-season titles in 2005 and 2007. The 2005 NEC Championship team earned an NCAA tournament berth. and captured the 2005 Championship and accompanying NCAA Tournament berth.
