This Week's Note of the Week Tommy can you hear me? — Tommy Crenshaw has completed 66 of 108 passes (61.1%) for 764 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the last three weeks. In the first four weeks, Crenshaw was 36 of 78 (46.2%) for 347 yards, no touchdowns and six interceptions. Five more notes no media person should be without More Tommy — Tommy Crenshaw's passing efficiency rating has gone from 68.4 to 102.8 in the last three weeks.
Still more Tommy — Tommy Crenshaw threw for 304 yards against Columbia, giving Princeton its first 300-yard passing game since Chad Roghair against Brown in 1991.
Young guns — Princeton had three freshman score a touchdown against Columbia in three different ways (Cameron Atkinson, rushing, Chisom Opara, receiving, Kevin Kongslie, interception return). Princeton had ome freshman (Tim Greene on a blcoked punt) score a touchdown from the advent of freshman eligibility in 1993 until this year.
First one to one wins — Princeton has not led at any point of its four losses or trailed at any point of its three wins.
Up and down and up — Princeton has gone loss, win, loss, win, loss, win since Week 2.
Others receiving votes Quarterly report — After being outscored 48-23 in the second quarter in its first six games, Princeton outscored Columbia 24-0 in the second quarter.
Phil it up — Phil Wendler has at least six receptions in every game.
More Phil — Phil Wendler is currently eighth on Princeton's single-season receptions list with 52 with three games to play. At his current average, he would finish the season with 75 receptions, which would good for third place. Kevin Guthrie's 88 receptions are first, followed by Derek Graham's 84 (both in 1983).
Still more Phil — Phil Wendler is fourth all-time at Princeton with 102 career receptions. He needs 35 to tie Judd Garrett for third.
One last Phil — Phil Wendler ranks sixth in Division I-AA in receptions per game (7.43). Getting his kicks — Taylor Northrop's 52-yard field goal against Harvard was the second-longest in school history (Charlie Gogolak, 54 yards).
More kicks — Taylor Northrop is 4 for 5 on field goal attempts of at least 40 yards and 3 for 5 on field goal attempts of fewer than 40 yards. Sack daddy — David Ferrara is Princeton's career leader with 27.5 sacks.
On guard — Hamin Abdullah has started 30 games at guard for Princeton, dating to his freshman year.
Tight-rope — Since the start of the 1994 season, Princeton has attempted 1,283 passes. Of those, 29 (one every 44.2) have been completed to the tight end.
More rope — Princeton has attempted 230 passes this season, of which four have been completed to the tight end (one every 57.5).
Catching on — H-back Marty Cheatham has caught 13 passes the last three weeks after catching two in the first four weeks.
Last catching — Chisom Opara is averaging 20.7 yards on his six receptions.
Cameron crazy — Freshman Cameron Atkinson has had two 100-yard rushing games.
Crossing the line — Kyle Brandt, who has moved from running back to defensive back and now back to running back this season, rushed for 97 yards against Columbia.
Conversion tables — After starting the season 5 for 24 (21%) on third-down conversions, Princeton is 45 for 92 (49%).
Highly possessive — Princeton had a 40:02-19:58 edge in time of possession against Columbia.
Highly offensive — Princeton has averaged 31 points per game in its wins and 17.5 points per game in its losses.
Middle men — The four teams to defeat Princeton are a combined 24-5. The three teams Princeton has defeated are a combined 5-18.
Rhymes with agree — Tim Ligue caught five passes against Columbia after not catching a pass in his career prior to that.
Spreading it around — Princeton has six players with between 32 and 39 tackles.
Getting back to Tommy — Tommy Crenshaw is on pace to finish his career with 4,761 passing yards, which would be second all-time at Princeton.
Last Tommy — Tommy Crenshaw is the first Princeton quarterback with three consecutive games of at least 20 completions since Jason Garrett did so in each of the last four games of the 1988 season.
Yard work — Princeton's 537 yards of offense against Columbia last week were the most by the Tigers since a 565-yard game against Yale in 1992.
Trenton makes — Chuck Hastings, a Trenton, Mich., native, was the Ivy League defensive Player of the Week after his four sacks against Columbia.
Youth movement — Of the 10 Tigers with at least one rushing attempt this year, eight are freshmen or sophomores.
