Princeton Rallies for 11th Ivy League Title in Women's Volleyball

HANOVER, N.H. - Emily Brown (Jr., Palo Alto, Cal.) played one of the greatest matches of her life at the most important time, leading the Princeton University women's volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over Harvard in the championship match of the 1999 Ivy League tournament. Princeton wins its 11th league crown and is guaranteed a spot in the NCAA tournament, which begins Dec. 2. The brackets will be announced Nov. 28.
Brown, who led the league in attack percentage with a .345 mark during the regular season, had 22 kills and a match-high .528 attack percentage. Michelle Buffum (Fr., San Jose, Cal.) had 22 kills and six digs. Alexis Collins (So., Los Angeles, Cal.) had 16 kills and a career-high 23 digs while Sabrina King (Jr., Laguna Beach, Cal.) had 16 kills and 18 digs.
Melissa Ford (Sr., Newport Beach, Cal.) had 76 assists for the Tigers. She and fellow senior captain Erika Hansen (Sr., Newport Beach, Cal.), who had 15 kills and 17 digs, end their league careers with a pair of Ivy League titles. Princeton also won the championship in 1997.
