Princeton Opens Tournament with Win

The Tigers got things rolling with Holmes' first goal at the 16:05 mark of the first period. The Tigers took the 1-0 lead into the locker room. Holmes scored her second of the game just 33 seconds into the second period on an assist from Andrea Kilbourne (So., Saranac Lake,N.Y.). Fedderly scored her first less than two minutes later on an assist from Sarah Brownlee (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. Lisa Meyers scored at 15:06 of the second period to put the Bulldogs on the board, but that was all the offense the Elis could muster. Yale posted only 12 shots on goal to Princeton's 33.
Kilbourne scored on Holmes' assist to lead off the third period scoring. Fedderly notched her second goal on Aviva Grumet-Morris's (So., Evanston, Ill.) second assist at the 10:11 mark.
Rookie goalie Sarah Ahlquist (South St. Paul, Minn.) earned her second career win between the pipes, making 11 saves.
The Invitational continues tomorrow with Yale taking on Ohio State at 2 p.m. followed by Princeton vs. Wisconsin at 5 p.m.
