PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown notched their third Ivy League victory on Saturday afternoon in Meehan Auditorium as they defeated the Princeton Tigers by the score of 4-2. The win was a collaborative offense and defensive effort as the Bears managed to come back from a 2-1 deficit.
Brown's Melissa Rennison put the first point on the scoreboard as she slid a shot past Tiger goaltender Susan Maes three minutes into the game. The Tigers answered Rennison's goal with a shot deflected into the net by Melissa Deland near the end of the first period and then took the lead from the Bears early in the second period with another deflected goal from Andrea Kilbourne. It was Brown's Kathleen Kauth's who tied the game at two with a goal in the second period.
Midway in the third period, Bear freshman Courtney Johnson tallied her third goal of the year and gave the Bears a 3-2 advantage. Johnson received a pass from Tamra Jones in the slot and drilled a shot between the pipes. Ali Kenney also assisted the play. Jones sealed the victory with thirty seconds left on the clock with an empty net goal.
