COLUMBIA, N.Y. - Meg DeJong (Sr., Tinton Falls, N.J.) didn't need to do it alone, although she likely could have. DeJong combined with freshman Joelle Kueng (Kelowna, B.C.) to shut out Columbia, 6-0.
The Tigers got on the board first when Molly O'Malley took a pass from Kirsty Hale (Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) and scored with 23:52 remaining in the first half. Hale added two more first-half goals to give the Tigers a comfortable 3-0 lead at the half. Hilary Matson (So., Marathon, N.Y) scored once while Melanie Meerschwam (So., Amstelveen, The Netherlands) added two more goals in the second half. The Tigers are now 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Ivy League. They are the four-time defending Ivy champions.
Princeton outshot Columbia, 30-2, and had a 11-1 advantage in penalty corners. The Tigers will next host Delaware University, currently ranked 7th nationally, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Delaware has won nine of its last 10, although its last game was a 2-1 overtime loss to Duke on Sunday.
