No. 2 Princeton Tops Fairfield 3-1 To Reach NCAA Quarterfinals
November 14, 2025 | Field Hockey
Izzy Morgan scored less than three minutes into Princeton's NCAA tournament opener against Fairfield Friday afternoon. Would this be an easy game?Â
No, it wouldn't. What matters is winning and advancing, and doing those two things this time of year is never easy.Â
Princeton did in fact win and advance, getting goals from Morgan, Beth Yeager and then the clincher from Ella Hampson late in a 3-1 win over the Stags on Bedford Field. Princeton will now play Sunday at 1 in the quarterfinals against the winner of Friday's other first round game on Bedford between Liberty and Syracuse.
The win was Princeton's 12th straight and moved the Tigers into the quarterfinals for the second straight year.Â
That changed over the course of a Beth Yeager drag flick on a second quarter penalty corner, assists to Morgan and Pru Lindsey (who extended her streak of at least one point to 11 straight games). The goal was classic Yeager, who ripped it into the top left corner for her 13th of the year.Â
The game stayed that way until Hampson scored after Fairfield had pulled its goalie, with another assist to Morgan. Princeton outshot Fairfield 16-3 while ending the Stags' season at 16-6.Â

Morgan's goal, her fourth, came on a perfect feed across the cage from Anna Faulstich, who reached the 10-assist mark for the season on the play. Fairfield came back later in the quarter with a goal on a penalty corner, and the Stags — who had beaten Boston University 1-0 in the opening round game Wednesday — suddenly had all the momentum.ÂEnd 1, and it's No. 2 Princeton 1, Fairfield 0. Here's the goal, Izzy Morgan from Anna Faulstich.
