Beth Yeager Named One Of Four Finalists For The Honda Award
January 06, 2026 | Field Hockey
Beth Yeager has been named one of four finalists for the Honda Sport Award for field hockey. The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards.
Joining Yeager are Harvard's Bronte-May Brough, Syracuse's Bo van Kempen and Northwestern's Maddie Zimmer. The winner will be chosen through voting by Senior Woman Administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA schools.Â
Yeager, who led Princeton to the NCAA championship game this past fall, was named a first-team All-American, the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection — all for the fourth time in her career. No other Ivy field hockey player has ever been a four-time first-team All-American. Yeager also was the Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year for the second time and a member of the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament team.Â
The senior from Greenwich, Conn., scored 15 goals and added 10 assists this season and finished her career fifth all-time at Princeton in points (153) and goals (59) and tied for fourth in assists (35). She is one of three two-time Princeton Honda Award finalists, along with Ilvy Friebe (2001, 2002) and Katie Reinprecht (2009, 2012, when she was the winner).
From the official release:Â
The announcement of the finalisrts comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation's top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing "the best of the best in collegiate athletics." The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2025 Honda Cup, to be presented live on Monday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
The field hockey finalists were selected by a panel of experts and coaches from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Voting for the Honda Sport Award for field hockey is conducted by senior women administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member institutions.
