The fourth-ranked Princeton field hockey team has now started its season without allowing a goal in 195 minutes. The most recent 60 came Friday afternoon, when the Tiger defense one again held an opponent off the scoreboard, this time No. 17 Rutgers.

Olivia Caponiti made four saves behind a defense of Clem Houlden, Gabriella Anderson and Ottilie Sykes that allowed only five Scarlet Knight shots in a 2-0 Princeton win in its home opener against Rutgers Friday afternoon. Princeton remains the only Division I team who has yet to allow a goal this season.

The offense came from Molly Nye, who blasted a cross from Houlden (on her birthday) into the cage nearly 10 minutes into the first quarter, and from Pru Lindsey, who finished a perfect give-and-go from Anna Faulstich with three minutes to go. It was the second goal of the season for both scorers.

Princeton was playing at home for the only time in its first seven games of the season after beginning the season with a 4-0 win over Old Dominion and a 1-0 shootout loss to North Carolina after 75 scoreless minutes between them. Princeton outshot its opponent for the third straight game, this time with a 14-5 edge over the Scarlet Knights. The game marked the return to Bedford Field of Talia Schenck, a Princeton alum who is playing as a grad student this season at Rutgers.

The Tigers finish their weekend Sunday at noon at Penn State.
