Maine Falls to Princeton in Rematch

PRINCETON, N.J. - In a penalty-stricken game, Princeton defeated Maine 4-3 in tonight's rematch at Baker Rink. Senior Ali Coughlin (Lincoln, Mass.) led the Tigers with two goals on the night.
Maine, wanting to avenge their loss to the Tigers last night, came out strong and scored the first goal of the game at 15:27. The goal was one of two by Maine freshman Raffi Wolf who also had one assist on the evening.
The Tigers (2-0) dominated in the second period, however, when freshman Andrea Kilbourne (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) scored the first of Princeton's two power-play goals off of assists by sophomore Laura Hays (Meadville, Pa.) and junior Dani Holtschlag (Depere, Wis.) at 4:46. Coughlin then netted her first goal of the evening at 6:16. Assisting on the play were sophomore Abbey Fox (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) and Kilbourne. Kilbourne then turned around and scored the next and final goal of the period from an assist by sophomore Annamarie Holmes (Apple Valley, Minn.) at 10:19. The Black Bears rallied in the third period, coming out and immediately scoring a power-play goal 46 seconds into the period. The Tigers soon got the same opportunity, however, and Coughlin added her second goal with the assist going to Holtschlag at 16:05. The power-play war continued and Maine made one last effort with Wolf netting her second goal against freshman netminder Susan Maes (Mantiwoc, Wis.) at 16:41.
In goal for the Tigers, Maes had 14 saves on the night while Maine's Amanda Cronin saved 34 Tiger attempts.
The Tigers will next travel to St. Lawrence on Saturday, November 15 to face the Saints at 2 p.m.
