PRINCETON, N. J. - Freshman Andrea Kilbourne (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) led the all-around effort for the Tigers with two goals and one assist in this afternoon's victory over Colby at Baker Rink. Senor Ali Coughlin (Lincoln, Mass.) and junior Danya Marshman (Huntington Woods, Mich.) both contributed with three-point performances.
Princeton (5-0) came out slow in the first period but never turned back once freshman Melissa Deland (Washington, D.C.) put the Tigers on the board at 12:35 off of assists by Marshman and junior Dani Holtschlag (Depere, Wis.). Less than a minute later, Kilbourne scored her first goal of the night with help from Coughlin and sophomore Annamarie Holmes (Apple Valley, Minn.) at 13:33.
The Tigers came out with the same intensity in the second period with sophomore Beth Schmierer (Trenton, N.J.) netting her first goal of the night off of an assist by freshman Aviva Grumet-Morris (Evanston, Ill.) at 3:24. Emiko Domoto-Reilly scored Colby?s lone goal at 4:32 of the period. Schmierer was quick to strike back again when she scored her second goal of the day at 8:53. On the play, Grumet-Morris assisted again as well as sophomore Lucy Firestone (Washington, D.C.). Princeton's final goal of the period came at 11:06 on the power play with Kilbourne netting her second goal of the day off of Marshman and Coughlin assists.
Princeton continued with its scoring barrage in the third period with Kilbourne connecting with Coughlin for the score at 3:39. Marshman finished off her day, lighting up the lamp at 12:30 off of an assist by Deland. Senior Robin Toppi (Somerville, Mass.) completed the Tigers' eight-goal day at 13:19. Assisting on the play were classmate Liz Shea (Oceanside, N.Y.) and junior Freddie Barrows (Newton, Mass.).
In goal, White Mules' Josephine Champman turned aside 51 Tiger attempts while Tiger netminders Susan Maes (Mantiwoc, Wis.) and Jamie Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) combined for nine saves.
