PRINCETON, N. J. - In the contest for first place in the ECAC, Providence shut out Princeton, 3-0 in today's contest at Baker Rink. 1998 Olympic goaltender Sara DeCosta had 23 saves on the day to lead the Friars to victory.
Both teams started off slowly and did not score in the first period but then Jackie Tamsin and Jessica Tabb came out in the second period to score two of the Friars' three goals.
Jennifer Bill then topped off the Providence scoring when she netted a goal at 6:56 of the third period.
In goal for the Tigers, freshman Susan Maes (Mantiwoc, Wis.) saved 26 shots.
The Tigers will next face Yale in New Haven, Conn. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and will return home on Saturday, January 2 to play Dartmouth at 2 p.m.
