PRINCETON, N.J. - In an action packed game, the Tigers defeated the Boston College Eagles 6-2 in today?s match at Baker Rink. For the Tigers (9-4-1, 7-2-1), freshmen Melissa Deland (Washington, D.C.) and Andrea Kilbourne (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) along with sophomores Annamarie Holmes (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Abbey Fox (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) all contributed to the effort scoring two points apiece.
The Tigers came out strong in both the first two periods, scoring three goals in both. Freshman Jess Fedderly (Wyoming, Minn.) opened up the scoring barrage with her first goal of the season at 9:44. Later in the period, Holmes connected with Kilbourne and freshman Aviva Grumet-Morris (Evanston, Ill.) for a power-play goal at 14:10. Holmes then earned her second point of the game when she assisted Deland to close out the Tigers' first period scoring.
The Tigers came out immediately in the second period with Fox scoring Princeton's first short-handed goal of the season just 30 seconds into the period. For the Eagles, Missy Barsz then came back to score a power-play goal at 2:11 of the period. Princeton capped off its scoring efforts with two goals by Kilbourne and sophomore Laura Hays (Meadville, Pa.) at 4:14 and 4:39, respectively.
In goal for Boston College, Sharon Vantuyl kicked aside 27 Tigers shots-on-goal while for Princeton, freshman netminder Susan Maes stopped 20 Eagles' attempts.
The Tigers will next host the Yale Bulldogs on Wednesday, January 6 at 4 p.m.
