Princeton, N.J. - Columbia sent an impressive message to Princeton in the first game on Friday night. Columbia's hitting percentage of .341 helped them defeat Princeton in the first game 16-14. The Tigers would bounce back to take the next three games with relative ease as this victory coupled with a loss by Cornell, propelled the Tigers into sole possession of first place in the Ivy League. Princeton now leads the all-time series with Columbia 24-0, and is still undefeated at home this season (5-0).
Sabrina King (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif.) led the Tigers with 22 kills and 16 digs, and Ana Yoerg (Jr., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) recorded a match-high 52 assists.
Columbia's Madia Willis had 16 kills and Cassie Bryan recorded 16 digs in defeat.
While Cornell's loss takes a little luster away from Princeton's match with the Big Red tomorrow, the match should be rather exciting. The Tigers face Cornell at 4:00 p.m. in Dillon Gym on Saturday October 28th as the Big Red hope to bounce back from a tough loss against Pennsylvania on Friday night.
