Princeton, N.J. - The Tigers connected on .202 percent of their attempts to sweep the visiting Rider Broncs, but not without drama. Despite an abysmal shooting percentage of .096, Rider controlled much of the play in the second game, until Princeton woke up and made their shots count. The game went to Princeton (16-14) and they carried their strong play into the third game where they finished off the Broncs.
Tigers' captain Sabrina King shot a .297 and led the team in kills (16) and defensive digs (13). The Tigers' offense looked to King for her explosive shot and her dynamic defense and she did not disappoint. The Tigers also got a boost from freshmen Marissa Becker and Thais de Melo throughout the match. Freshman Kerry Song contributed with nine assists as she replaced setter Ana Yoerg for the third game.
The struggling Broncs put up quite a fight in this intra-county contest, but in the end, the more balanced Princeton team prevailed. The Tigers go on the road to take on Fairfield at 7 p.m. tomorrow. With this win, the Tigers remain in first in the Ivy League and improve to 7-1. The Tigers' overall record is now 17-7 as they gear up for a couple of matches before the Ivy Championships.
