Cambridge, Mass. - One thing became alarmingly clear the Princeton Tigers as they dropped game one of the Ivy League championship match to Cornell, which was that the Big Red came to play on Saturday night. After winning game two by the score of 15-5, the Tigers rallied to win games four and five to capture their fifth Ivy League championship in the last seven years. In addition to winning the Ivy League championship on Saturday, the Tigers were the Ivy League regular-season champions as they compiled a 6-1-conference record.
Two of Princeton's usual suspects, namely Sabrina King (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif.) and Michelle Buffum (So., San Jose, Calif.) had 11 and 12 kills respectively. The Tigers have come to rely on solid play from King and Buffum, and the Ivy League's players, fans and coaches were formally introduced to Princeton's stunning freshman sensation, Kellie Cramm (Laguna Beach, Calif.). Cramm registered 15 kills and 16 digs in the five-game victory. Cramm was selected to the all-tournament team along with Ana Yoerg (Jr., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), who was credited with 54 assists in the final game. According to the official website of the National Collegiate Athletic Association the winner of the Ivy Group receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, and the pairings will be announced on Sunday November 26th. The NCAA selection show will be telecast live on both the Sunshine Network (DirectTV 632 / Dish Network 422) and Home Team Sports (DirectTV 629 / Dish Network 424).
