PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's ice hockey team skated to a 2-0 win over Yale on Sunday with goals by Aviva Grumet-Morris and Andrea Kilbourne. Freshman goaltender Megan Van Beusekom netted the first shutout of the season for the Tigers, her first at Princeton.
After a scoreless first period, Grumet-Morris scored on the power play on a give from Kilbourne to give Princeton the 1-0 lead. Kilbourne then scored 44 seconds into the third period, assisted by Grumet-Morris and Wanda Mason.
Princeton split the home-and home series with Yale losing the first game 3-1 on Saturday at Ingalls Rink in New Haven, Conn.
"I think yesterday we thought we had the game won before we showed up and they totally out worked us," said head coach Jeff Kampersal. "Today we played a lot harder. We played with our heads and our hearts."
The Tigers up their record to 2-3-1 (2-3-1, ECAC) while Yale drops to 1-5. (1-5, ECAC). Princeton returns to action on Nov. 25 against Harvard at 2:00 p.m.
